Movie Openings This Week: Clearly It's January

So Avatar is gobbling up all the ticket sales, and in its wake are a ton of small films in limited release and a few other movies you just might want to catch. So what does this week have to offer, if you haven't yet gone to see Avatar?

Daybreakers
Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, Isabel Lucas, Sam Neill
Vampires from the future! There's a plague. Perhaps some is legend, or the last man on Earth, or some sort of Omega Man. Just kidding, but it does have vampire science.

Leap Year
Amy Adams, Matthew Goode, Adam Scott, John Lithgow
The gimmick is ladies can ask guys to marry them on February 29th in Irish culture. And next we have...

Youth in Revolt
Michael Cera, Portia Doubleday, Steve Buscemi, Ray Liotta, Justin Long, Jean Smart, Fred Willard, Zach Galifianakis
A very big cast of very recognizable names star in a movie that isn't getting a whole heck of a lot of marketing. But it involves ascots, moustaches, and cigarettes, so clearly this is going to be awesome.

In limited release (and/or NY only): Garbage Dreams, Bitch Slap, Crazy on the Outside, In Search of Memory, Waiting for Armageddon, and Sweetgrass.

Next week: not a whole heck of a lot. Although a movie is coming called 44 Inch Chest which clearly isn't what the title might make you hope for. Also, a new movie with Jackie Chan, George Lopez, and Billy Ray Cyrus.
