Elementary, My Dear Watson!
Cinematical has revealed the new poster from Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams. The movie opens Christmas Day.

J.J. Abrams interview about Superman movie!

In an interview with MTV news, J.J. Abrams revealed his strong interest in working on a Superman movie. He talked about his experience working on a treatment for the movie stating, "That version of the movie—the one that was reviewed and vilified—was actually not the latest draft we had at the time and we worked on it well after that. I do think there’s a version of that movie that could be really fun to see," said Abrams. "You never really know. Everything happens for a reason."

Star Trek Movie Figures 2: Now They're All Exclusives Canceled

This assortment has since been canceled by the manufacturer. See below for what was originally planned to be released.

We hear there has been some confusion on this nifty batch of figures-- so let's clear some thing up.

Originally, the Exclusive Star Trek Movie Action Figures 3 3/4-Inch Wave 2 set was going to have only 3 exclusive figures-- the idea was that 7 would be sold to all stores, and that the Enterprise Chekov, Enterprise McCoy, and the Space Sulu were going to be online exclusives. It turns out that this is in fact not the case, as Playmates will no longer be offering these to retailers. They are now exclusive to Entertainment Earth (wholesale via EE Distribution) and another distribution partner.

If you've been collecting these, this batch of figures will include the pieces necessary to complete your Star Trek Movie Enterprise Bridge Playset, which is a pretty spiffy thing to have. These are due early next year, and the set of 10 is just $68.99. (Really, it's worth it just to get Space Sulu and Keenser.)

...oh, and we have these cool banners too.

Greenlight for Green Lantern

Green Lantern to light up the Big Easy
Recent reports that Warner Bros' Green Lantern film had to pull out of shooting in Australia for budget issues seem to be confirmed as it's looking like the movie will set up shop in New Orleans. According to MTV Splashpage, The Times-Picayune reports that the studio manager of New Orleans-based Second Line Stages has been contacted by the producers of Green Lantern about getting studio space.

The juicy part of the article was buried in the end apparently. WB's plans for Green Lantern is that it will be "the first in a trilogy of films focusing on DC's Justice League heroes—the others being The Flash and Wonder Woman—before uniting all three with fellow League members Batman, Superman and Aquaman for a Justice League movie."

(Pass out here...OK, I'm good now.)

The sinister Sinestro
Onto more Green Lantern news, Jackie Earle Haley has been rumored in the last couple of days as the front runner to play Sinestro in the film. Haley, who played Rorschach in Watchmen and stars as Freddy Krueger in the new A Nightmare on Elm Street, stated in an interview with MTV that, "I heard about Ryan Reynolds being in it," and that, "I'd love to work with him."

If this were to come to fruition, it would be a great leap in terms of casting big budget superhero movies. No need to hire big name actors (Nick Cage as Ghost Rider? Ugh), just the right ones that can embody the characters.

In any event, so much to look forward to! Is it 2011 yet?

Vote for the Next Star Wars Figure

Well, the next "Fan's Choice" figure. Since the dawn of this decade, Hasbro has turned over the selection of a few action figures to fans-- they would present us with a group of options, and the top candidate-- whatever it is-- would see production in plastic. The first round was done by fan sites to pick some selections, and all of those were whipped up into this ToyFare/Wizard Star Wars Fan Poll for voting by you, the fans. The list contains 30 top character choices, with some figures being remakes of existing toys and others, like Jaxxon, Palleon, and Jocasta Nu, have never before been made as action figures.

Go vote now!

Entertainment Earth: What's New This Week

What a week it's been! Our exciting DeLorean exclusive is pretty much gone for good-- watch our site in case there are any surprise warehouse finds-- and we've added the 2010 Mattel Mego-esque World's Greatest Superheroes action figures. Stunning!

New Arrivals
  • The Marvel Encyclopedia Hardcover Book is a huge volume packed with trivia on decades of the Marvel Universe. It's well worth picking up if you want to know everything, or as much of everything as someone that hasn't read 70 years of Marvel books can hope for.
  • Mr. Bacon's Big Adventure Board Game combines family togetherness and pork products in a way you've never imagined. $18.99.
  • Get an idea on how toys spend their time together with the Barbie Loves SpongeBob SquarePants Doll. While her pants are not square, they're certainly quite yellow and she includes a little Spongebob charm for someone to wear. Where you can get yellow jeans in your size, we have no idea, as we only have one or two pairs of pants each here. She's $26.99.
  • We got a limited number of the Avatar Leonopteryx Creature Collectible Figure. I suggest you get yours now, as it's a colorful dinosaur-like creature that, were it in nature, I would assume carried a deadly poison. You know, like those day-glo tree frogs.
  • For our anime fans, the BEAT Collection Shion no Yakata Fujisawa Renju Statue has a ginormous rack. Also, incredible sculting, a maid's outfit, and a colorful design. She's $94.99 and comes from the wizards at Yamato USA.
  • The very popular Star Trek Original Series Communicator Talking Key Chain is back and only $11.99. It's just like the prop from the TV show, but smaller, and capable of holding your keys. The Star Trek Vehicle Key Chains Set is also swell, with two great vehicles from the original series and one from the Next Generation for $14.99.

New Video: Star Wars Galactic Heroes Obi-Wan's ROTS Jedi Starfighter

The Star Wars Galactic Heroes Obi-Wan's ROTS Jedi Starfighter is pretty swell. Not only is it a nice representation of the vehicle from the movie in a quasi-super-deformed style, but it works for two action figure lines. Not only will it fit Galactic Heroes figures, but it also can seat numerous 3 3/4-inch action figures-- and seems like it may have been designed with that in mind, too.

In the video-- shot in my living room since it was loud outside-- you can see how the figures fit inside. Also, there's retractable landing gear and an articulated astromech droid dome on the side of the ship.

I dig this because I not only love the Galactic Heroes toy line, but I'm a huge dork for super-deformed vehicles. (Specifically the Zoids from the 1980s which are darned near impossible to get, but hey, someday...) This should be a solid toy for kids of all ages, particularly if parents want to buy their children a good vehicle that doesn't have spring-loaded shooting weapons.

It's the suit that makes a superhero.

Donuts for Downey
It's refreshing to see that even Tony Stark can sit down and enjoy a donut between superheroics. Entertainment Weekly released an image of Robert Downey Jr. in a key scene in Iron Man 2 where he enjoys some sweet treats. Possibly with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), but we will have to wait and see.

Be the Dark Knight
Let's face it, Batman is just the best. Who doesn't want to be a multi-billionaire, know every kind of martial arts technique, and have the coolest car on the planet. Well this could possibly be the next best thing! Made by Universal Designs Replicas, here is a motorcycle suit based on the Batman costume from The Dark Knight! Costing about $1,000 and only 1,000 will be created, you too can feel like Batman as you cruise the streets in these duds. What about a motorcycle helmet with bat ears? It may not be too far off...

Entertainment Earth: What's New This Week

New toys come in, new toys go out. This week we've received numerous new items, as well as solicitations for exciting new items for later this season and into next year. What should you know about to be a well-informed toy collecting netizen? Well, let's reach into the goodie bag and find out.
New Arrivals
  • The Flesh Eating Zombies Figure Set is a pretty good desk accessory for this season, what with 8 zombie people, a zomby woof, and glow-in-the-dark skin. $15.99.
  • The very popular Star Trek Original Series Communicator Talking Key Chain is already almost sold out... it's a great prop replica that serves the function of keeping your keys in one place. Truly, an amazing piece of tech here. $11.99.
  • We overheard at Comic-Con that the DC Stars Catwoman Exclusive Tonner Doll was partially inspired by Megan Fox-- true? Heck if we know. If you get a look at her face, and squint, we can see it. This limited edition doll is $229.99.
  • This Monster Scenes The Victim Model Kit is particularly interesting in that toy lore has it that this kit brought about the end of the Aurora company many moons ago-- or at least, its monster line. The original box read "rated X- for excitement!" Clearly, this is the best way to market a girl model figure whose main purpose was to be placed in cages or antagonized by the undead. $24.99.

New Pre-Orders
  • The Star Trek Starfleet Mark IX Tricorder Signature Ed. Replica is pretty awesome, and autographed by Brent "Data" Spiner. This piece is similar to one that never came out from Master Replicas, and is limited to a mere 1,000 pieces. New orders are welcome at $348.99.
  • Numerous new Avatar toys from Mattel are up for pre-order and images are coming soon. Human figures look similar to Space Marines from Aliens, the blue Na'vi are a catlike race, and the various monsters look like fantastical dinosaur renderings as seen through the eyes of the Cloverfield school of monster design.
  • The newly revised Twilight New Moon Soundtrack 2 GB USB Flash Drive includes the soundtrack to the film-- a nice bonus! It's due this month for $32.99.
  • Playstation fans may enjoy taking a stab at sword collecting with the God of War Kratos Blade of Chaos Replica. Get it? It's sharp. This should be out early next year, and new orders are welcome at $149.99.

Bonus Gallery - Graphitti Designs Green Lantern T-Shirts

While apparel isn't generally an area we focus on here in this blog, this product line based on the DC Comics Blackest Night storyline is just freaking awesome. Not only are there Green Lantern shirts, but there are orange, black, indigo, blue, and other designs too. It's pretty swell. Shirts start at $17.99, with XX-Large at $20.99 and XXX-Large for $23.99.
