The thought of the dead rising and feasting on us has, for some reason, been astonishingly appealing to us in the past few decades. Serving nearly every purpose from an allegory on race relations to a cheap Halloween costume, the undead have done a lot for us all. Heck, a brand new zombie-themed video game, Zombie Wrangler, just came out on the Xbox 360 this week, plus we stock a number of items that are in some way related to the undead menace.Which is why we bring you...
Top Four Friday: Musical Zombie Edition
4. The Zombies, a great band from the 1960s
You've no doubt heard this band from the UK, best known for making famous songs like "Time of the Season" and "She's Not There." These guys are genuine talents who have created works which will no doubt be remixed for Quentin Tarintino movies for years to come.
3. "Zombie," a rock song by The Cranberries
You know what? Screw this song. There's too damn much wailing in here, which, while appropriate for the undead, bugs the Hell out of me.
2. "Zomby Woof," an awesome song by Frank Zappa
Pure genius. Any song which can work in the phrase "Tellin' you all the zomby troof/here I'm is, the Zomby Woof" is obviously a work of poetic genius the likes of which we shall not see again. Seriously, check this one out. Its tale of harsh political struggles will guarantee to please. The definitive version can be found on the "Over-Nite Sensation" album.
1. Rob Zombie, presumably undead entertainer
It's rare that the undead have careers, but this guy managed to do quite well. After feasting on human flesh, I can only assume that it is difficult to keep your beard in such good repair, particularly when you're also in a band and directing movies. Since he's also been quite good at restraining his cravings for human brains enough to create too many additional zombies (aside from Sherry Zombie, his old lady) we have to say we're quite proud of this rotting corpse who walks among us, and that's why he's our top musical Zombie this week.
